Keeping a constant eye on nutrient elimination
Continuous monitoring using online measurement technology
By using state-of-the-art analytical measurement technology in the biological
treatment stage and at the outlet of the wastewater treatment plant, DSDL
ensures stable process control, compliance with legal limits and complete
documentation of the measured values.
Measuring container with analyzers and analysis panel for effluent monitoring of the wastewater treatment plant
Results
-
High level of process reliability
-
Precise control of the aeration and demand-oriented precipitant dosing, even during short-term load peaks
-
Reliable data on water quality and documents compliance with the limit
values for nitrogen and total phosphorus without any gaps -
Reduced maintenance costs thanks to automated calibration and cleaning of the analyzers
Customer challenge
In order to further increase process reliability at the Dillingen wastewater treatment plant, nutrient elimination was to be made more effective and transparent. The central concern was the reliability of the measured values and the ability to react promptly and automatically to changing loads. DSDL wanted dynamic process control and continuous monitoring, which was not possible with the previous manual laboratory analyses of the outlet parameters.
Our solution
Several oxygen sensors are used for controlling the blowers in the biological purification. The concentrations of ammonium, nitrate and orthophosphate are measured with the highest precision by analyzers and a probe. A measuring container was installed at the outlet of the plant so that the required outlet parameters and in particular the legal limits for nitrogen and phosphorus can be monitored.
